Although I only visited a small exhibit, I think that it is important that we show our students that art is everywhere and we must take it in and learn from it!
I went up to Utah State for the weekend and was disappointed when the Museum of art there was closed. Instead I decided to meander around the the campus and stumbled upon a really neat mural. This piece was done by different artists and the pictures are not meant to correlate with each other. The mural was called "the three shades" and each wooden panel was painted by a different artist. I really liked how the artists did not correlate but were only told that they had to use primary colors transparently painted onto birch wood and the subject had to be an abstraction of figurative subjects. I really liked the sharp contrasts in color using definite lines.
Application to Classroom:
When applying this to our classrooms we can teach our students about being creative while following rules that we set for ourselves. Such as only doing a monochromatic painting or only using straight lines. Students can then see how even when a small rule is presented they can be creative and convey different emotions with their art.
