The wise Dr. Dan once said:
You could make a whole lesson on color... it could be about entymology, botany, psychology, physics, etc. Color is so awesome! There are some online tools to help select color schemes. The basic color wheel (primaries of red, yellow, and blue) is only one color theory, but it is partial. Here is an online site that gives a summary of some tools to help select a color palette.
Here is an interesting article on the meaning of color. I think exploring personal color meanings and representations might be really cool for students. Oh, we also talked about figurative, representational, abstract, non-objective. Here is a definition on Wikipedia... "Painting and sculpture can therefore be divided into the categories of figurative, representational and abstract, although, strictly speaking, abstract art is derived (or abstracted) from a figurative or other natural source. However, the term is sometimes used as a synonym for non-representational art and non-objective art, i.e. art which has no derivation from figures or objects."
